Reading Icons: Belle

I thought it was about time I dedicated one of these posts to the icon who inspired this blog - or the name of it, at least. I'm so jealous of Belle's library. It's just one example of Disney setting me up with unrealistic expectations of men - I mean, who gives a freaking LIBRARY as a gift?! Only the greatest prince ever. Except for, y'know, the whole holding Belle captive thing. But I prefer not to dwell on unpleasantness. Look! Pretty pictures!

  1. I love Beauty and the Beast...and I remember when I first watched it after I became obsessed with reading.

Let's just say I used some colorful language and my sister laughed at my jealousy to a Disney character.

  4. Haha, I actually watched this the other day and then promptly downloaded the Belle song.

    Look there she goes,
    that girl is so peculiar.
I wonder if she's feeling well.
With a dreamy far off look,
and her nose stuck in a book.
What a puzzle to the rest of us, this Belle.

    Who can't relate to that!?

  6. That's one of my favorite parts about that movie. That and the snowball throwing scene. And, he totally might hold her captive, but he lets her go...!!! And he has amazing eyes and as a plus, he never bites her or anything...so he snarls a bit, what man doesn't. Beast is the bomb.

  10. This was my favourite film as a child, Belle is hands down the best Disney princess! I love the part at the beginning when she the bookseller is trying to persuade her to read a new book but she just wants to read an old favourite :)

  11. Love, love, love Beauty & the Beast. It's the absolute favorite of mine. That picture of Belle on the ladder in the bookshop made me wish more than anything for a library large enough to require a ladder to get to the top shelves. Thanks for the post and all the pictures!

  13. I've been totally ruined for personal libraries because of that movie. Nothing will compare to Belle's gigantic library. Beast scored himself some major points with that one.
